About the Club

Spokes & Spurs was founded in the late 1980’s by Dr. Harley Sutton of Georgetown, Kentucky and incorporated in 2001. Our focus is on recreational driving in Central Kentucky, and we try to meet once a month for pleasure drives, clinics, picnics, and get-togethers. Our horses run the gamut from small ponies to European warmbloods, and our vehicles range from antique to modern. Some members compete at Pleasure Driving shows and Combined Driving events.

Of course, it’s very hard to stop with just one vehicle, so several of our membership are pursuing the fascinating hobby of collecting and/or restoring carriages. The auctions in Indiana and Pennsylvania are popular gathering places for some of the club to buy, sell, and search for that perfect piece that will make a collection complete.

We welcome all those who either love to drive or would like to learn about how to be a safe and skillful whip.
