TRADITIONAL DAY OF DRIVING and POTLUCK LUNCH
There will be a Traditional Day of Driving and Potluck Lunch at Coach House Farm, 2027 Clintonville Road, Paris, KY, on Saturday, July 31 beginning at 10:00 am.
Kate and Katie Whaley are opening their beautiful farm for a Day of Traditional Driving. This is free and open to all Spokes and Spurs members. (Participants and observers)
The purpose of the day is to preserve driving styles of the past. Traditional is defined as styles of driving: English Classical, German Achenbach, Hungarian, or American based upon the appropriate type of carriage, horse, and harness.
There are three phases : Turnout Inspection, a Country Drive, and a Cones Course. All types of carriages are accepted, but antique vehicles or reproductions are encouraged, if possible. Drivers are required to carry a whip for the whole day.
To get a full explanation, see the Carriage Association of America website & click on “Sporting Day of Traditional Driving.”
This is a fun opportunity to dress up in the appropriate style of your carriage and have fun driving! If you don’t have a presentation type carriage, come on and enjoy the drive and cones!
If you plan to attend, please email spokesandspursky@gmail.com and indicate whether you are a “Participant” or “Observer” and what you are planning on bringing to the Potluck Lunch. Your responses will help us plan for the day and know what individuals plan to bring. Spokes and Spurs will be providing table service and drinks.
DON’T MISS THIS WONDERFUL DAY!
