Shaker Village Drive Change and Upcoming Election

Due to the current weather forecast for this Saturday, October 24, I
am moving the Shaker Village Drive to Sunday afternoon, October 25.  I
hope this doesn’t keep some of you away that have planned on driving.

Remember, Spokes and Spurs is paying your fee for the drive, so this
is no cost to you.  I hope most of you can participate!  In order to
pay your fee you will need to arrive no later than 1:30 p.m.   The
main caravan will launch at 1:45 p.m. with Linda Freeman leading us.
Bring a snack and a drink so we can visit using safe distancing after
the drive.  If you want to drive, but cannot join us at 1:30 p.m. on
Sunday, please reply to this e-mail so I can make sure your fee is
paid.  When you arrive at Shaker Village, if the guard stops you, just
tell them you are with Spokes and Spurs.  They will be aware of our
arrangements.

Shaker Village is inviting us to participate in a Christmas parade.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the final decision of whether to proceed
is being made. The date and time is being determined.  I have asked
for this occasion that we are able to park and tack up at the end of
the main road, not the stables.  This will allow many of us with
antique carriages to not have that long drive up from the stables. I
will notify you of the details when I hear from Shaker Village.

For both of these drives, we will be using the following COVID-19
precautions.  When not driving, wear masks.   Keep safe distancing as
we visit and tack up.  If you are with your own family or team, you do
not need to wear masks while driving.  Those of you riding on a
carriage with others not from your household, you should wear your
mask.

This December, I will be completing my term as President.  I have so
enjoyed being your President.  Even with the pandemic, we still have
had several activities with excellent participation.  We will not have
the annual meeting, dinner and silent auction this year due to the
pandemic. The Executive Board is making decisions how to vote.   Since
Jennifer Harber, secretary and Hugh Bellis-Jones, treasurer were
elected last year, they have agreed to stay on. I hope that Kathy
Courtemanche will also stay in place as Board Member at Large.  The
committees for event planning/coordination and hospitality are staying
in place.  I have agreed, along with our great master of the web page,
Jack Goodman, to stay in place for communications.   So far, I have
received no emails for individuals that are willing to volunteer to
place their names in nomination for President or Vice-President.  If
you wish to nominate someone, please make sure you check with that
person before placing their name in nomination.  Please email your
nominations or your wish to be considered for office as soon as
possible to: spokesandspursky@gmail.com

I have checked with and am placing in nomination for President our
current great Vice-President, Ann Katona.  Ann, you have done a superb
job along with all of our other officers!

Looking forward to seeing all of you this Sunday afternoon at Shaker Village!
